Area Subject to Morphological Change– an area in which navigation occurs, when the depth of water and bathymetry provide sufficient navigable water. These areas are subject to morphological change over time and, therefore, navigational marks are re-positioned by the port/harbour authority to identify the safe vessel transit route. The final combined energy layer chose the highest category from either the wave or tidal current-induced kinetic energy layers to produce one single energy layer. Salinity data came from the WFD typology report (Rogers et al., 2003). The boundary between the polyhaline and euhaline salinity zones was defined as the boundary between marine and variable salinity areas. The biogeography layer is divided into Arctic & Atlantic regions using the 500m boundary recommended by Kerry Howell (2010).
