Metadata document 18th July 2019: This release provides outcomes by geographical breakdowns, including a graduate's home region, region of higher education provider, and their current region and local authority of residence. It focuses on graduate outcomes and earnings in the 2016/17 tax year for the 2005/06, 2010/11, 2012/13 and 2014/15 cohorts (one, three, five and ten years after graduation). Please see the text for more detailed information about the measures used in this publication. Coverage This publication looks UK domiciled first degree graduates from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Alternative Provider (AP) or Further Education Colleges in England. As only English providers are included, data for those now living in the devolved administrations is not representative of all graduates living in these regions. This publication contains underlying data in 3 csv files. 1. Main tables underlying data List of variable names in this file and their description tax_year Tax year in which outcomes and earnings relate to. academic_year Academic year in which the group completed their first degree. YAG Number of years after graduation. HomeRegion Region in which a graduate lived prior to university InstRegion Region of the graduate's higher education provider (based on registered administrative address) CurrentRegion Region of a graduate's current residence CurrentLA Local Authority (code) of a graduate's current residence CurrentLANM Local Authority (name) of a graduate's current residence grads Number of graduates included in calculations. unmatched Percentage of graduates that have been classed as unmatched. matched Number of graduates that have been classed as matched. activity_not_captured Percentage of matched graduates whose activity could not be captured. no_sust_dest Percentage of matched graduates with an unsustained destination. sust_emp_only Percentage of graduates with a record or sustained employment only. sust_emp_with_or_without_fs Percentage of graduates with a record or sustained employment (these graduates may or may not have a further study record in addition to a sustained employment record). sust_emp_fs_or_both Percentage of graduates with a record or sustained employment, a record of further study, or both. earnings_include Number of matched graduates included in the total earnings calculations (graduates in PAYE employment or self-employment or both earnings_LQ Total earnings lower quartile (PAYE earnings annualised, self-employment non annualised). earnings_median Median total earnings (PAYE earnings annualised, self-employment non annualised). earnings_UQ Total earnings upper quartile (PAYE earnings annualised, self-employment non annualised). 2. Graduate and non graduate comparison - this file contains local authority earnings data for 'young' graduates and non-graduates.
